Threadbias is a sewing community on the web – whether you are stitching up beautiful quilts, making pajamas or purses, designing patterns and planning projects. If your fingers start itching to stitch whenever you see a stack of fresh fabric, this is your community. Here you can connect with other Theaders, exchange ideas share projects you're proud of and join or create groups. We started Threadbias, but we need you to make it great. As our community grows, we know Threadbias will become an active and thriving place for you to gather.
Amanda and Rebecca love quilting. And sewing. And fabric. And sewing books. And patterns... You get the picture. We love making things, and we love talking about making things. We know there are a lot of people out there just like us, scattered all over the web, so Alex decided he’d make a central website to help us find all those other people. From there, the idea grew into Threadbias – a gathering place for anyone interested in all kinds of sewing.
Quilting and sewing have always been a part of Amanda’s life – from the Mama-made clothes she wore as a baby to the quilts and clothes she now makes for her own three girls. Although she started sewing at a young age, learning hand-sewing, quilt piecing, and clothing construction from her mother, she denied her crafty heritage once she hit her teen years. Amanda’s DIY nature popped up from time to time (those embroidered cut-offs in high school!), and she now fully embraces her need to sew, quilt, and embellish pretty much everything.
Rebecca has loved making crafts most of her life and her favorite gifts were always those that had been handmade. Her love of sewing began with a sewing and needlecraft class in junior high school. Since then her interests have gone from making clothing for herself to quilting and other small projects. She loves sewing things for her three year old son and many nieces and nephews. That same three year old can also explain why she can often be found working late into the night to create handmade gifts for family and friends.
Alex is our website wizard. He’s been making computers do some pretty nifty things since he was eight - though he’ll admit his accomplishments then are no longer quite as impressive as they once seemed. He has some sewing experience (his one semester of home-ec in which he made a pillow shaped like a football) but isn’t fully immersed – yet! That’s right, once Alex has a bit of free time, he’ll be learning the ins-and-outs of sewing and we’ll track his progress right here on Threadbias.
